異丙基-β-D-硫代半乳糖苷(IPTG，CAS: 367-93-1)是誘導大腸桿菌乳糖操縱子酶合成的強力誘導物. 在培養(yǎng)基中加入該物10-4克分子時，即可通過存在于大腸桿菌細胞膜中的微量半乳糖苷滲透酶而被參入至細菌體內(nèi). 此外, 在高濃度下使用時, 因它仍能透過缺少半乳糖苷滲透酶的細胞, 因而常被用于對缺少滲透酶的菌株的誘導實驗. IPTG的這種性質(zhì)決定了他在生物領(lǐng)域有著極為廣泛的應用.
